What to buy?

Checklist

  • 1 pack of Like Mince
  • oil for frying
  • 1 onion - chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper - finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped jalapeño chilies (remove the seeds for slightly less heat)
  • 2 garlic cloves - chopped
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 400g chopped canned tomatoes
  • 100g of kidney beans, drained
  • 100 ml stout beer
  • 15g of dark chocolate
  • Water to adjust consistency.

  1. In a large pan, start by frying the onions until soft and translucent. Add the Like Mince and garlic, and keep frying until slightly browned.
  2. Add the cinnamon, smoked paprika, cumin and chili powder, and stir to combine.
  3. Next, add the diced bell peppers and chopped jalapeños, stirring to mix with the mince and spices.
  4. Pour in the stout beer and allow the liquid to reduce by half. Add the chopped tomatoes, beans and dark chocolate and bring to a simmer.
  5. Simmer for at least 1/2 hour, or even longer if you have the time. The longer you wait, the better it’ll taste – just add a little water if the consistency becomes too dry.
  6. Season with salt, pepper and agave syrup for a little sweetness. Serve with your favorite choice of bread or some boiled rice.
